HSG
- Hysterosalpingography (HSG) is a diagnostic imaging procedure used to evaluate the uterus and fallopian tubes. It is commonly performed to assess fertility issues or investigate causes of infertility.
- During the procedure, a contrast dye is injected through the cervix into the uterus and fallopian tubes. X-ray images are then taken to visualize the shape and structure of the uterus and patency (openness) of the fallopian tubes.
- HSG is typically performed in the first half of the menstrual cycle, around cycle days 6-12, to avoid interference from pregnancy or active menstruation. It is generally a safe procedure, but can cause temporary cramping or minor side effects in some patients.
